When Sam rolled into downtown Everett with other raiders and sentry guards, Sam didn't expect anything less than a challenge. But airborne minivan, and five empty clips later, Sam was seriously starting to worry. Between the roaring, the shouting, and the shooting, the only reason a scream managed to catch his attention was because it sounded like it was coming from above. Just as he jammed the magazine back into place, Sam looked up and spotted Parker in the second worst place she could be at that given moment. That wasn't saying much, considering the first would be in the hands of the over sized, freak of nature zombie, getting smacked into the ground. How the Hell did she managed to get tangled up anyway? They had already been fighting the damn thing for a while, and he had seen it climb pretty fast. If it climbed up the side of either of the buildings Parker was connected to, or even worse, if it decided to mess with the tree, she was screwed.
Lucky for the both of them, the zombie wasn't even looking in their general direction. Seeing his opportunity, and not knowing how long it would last, Sam dropped his rifle, grabbed the sturdiest low hanging branch, and pulled himself up and into the tree. He was way too tall for this, and every time he climbed a branch higher, he held his breath because he was definitely expecting to hear the sound of it cracking. Thankfully, Parker wasn't too high up in the air, and Sam was both quick and lucky enough to make his way up to Parker faster than he thought he could. The roars and the faint shake of the tree was plenty to spur him on. Once he was at her level, Sam stood on the branch as slow as he could afford to, reaching up to grab another to steady himself as he edged closer towards the mess the woman was in. "Parker! Parker, don't move." He took every step carefully. If he slipped or lost his balance, the fall probably wouldn't do more than bruise him, but it would waste time he wasn't sure that they had, and Parker was too tangled to get herself out of danger quickly.
Once he was close enough, Sam released the branch, and grabbed onto the ropes. "Okay.. okay.." Shit, was that thing closer than it was before? Sam couldn't help but look towards where he heard the creature. It wasn't looking at them, but it was facing them, and that was enough to push Sam to hurry even more than before. The thing could turn on them any second, and Sam wouldn't have anything but a knife that was probably not even half the size of the zombie's hand. To make matters worse, Sam was pretty sure Parker was bleeding. "Dammit. It's okay." After pulling the knife from his belt, he made a point to look at Parker directly, and as calmly as he could in dire circumstances. "Parker, I'm gonna cut you down, and we're going to have to jump, cause I can't catch you without losing my balance, there's not enough give in the rope. You're just going to have to trust me." He spoke quickly and readied his knife. He wasn't sure if she was the type to argue, or second guess, but he didn't have time to find out. If he didn't do this right, Parker could very well break her neck. Sam's eyes scanned over the ropes, quickly finding where both sides of the ropes tangled, and cut it right at the twist. Everything that kept Parker suspended was severed, and Sam barely managed to catch her in time after quickly tossing his knife to the side. He wrapped both arms around her, and the next thing he knew, his feet were no longer planted on the tree branch. Sam turned his body as they fell, breaking both their falls with his back. The fall could have been much worse, and it was enough to knock most of the wind out of Sam, but it wasn't enough to keep him from sitting up and pulling both himself and Parker to their feet. "Are you okay?!"
