Who: Robin, Julia and eventually Dean (with a guest appearance by Castiel) What: Surprise encounters Where: The woods When: Tank Day Warnings: Violence and language
When the news about the big damn zombie broke out, Robin had been quick to go back to her cell and get her shotgun and plenty of ammo for it and the glock that she always carried with her. She didn't have superpowers, and she knew in this new world where there were people with enhanced abilities she didn't rank very high in the powerful scale, but she was a good shot and stubborn as hell. There was no way in hell she would sit this fight out, and by the time she joined the team from the prison that would head out to fight the monster the determination was clearly written all over her face. Robin Charles Scherbatsky had not been raised to be a damsel in distress, nor did she like to feel powerless; if there was anything that she could do in this fight, she would do it. No matter what.
Seeing the enormous beast roaring and tearing through the woods made her tense, though, and a good part of her couldn't help but freak out because holy SHIT THAT WAS A BIG MONSTER, but she joined the fight along with everyone else. They were safeguarding the prison, their lives, and for someone who sometimes felt as if maybe she shouldn't stay in the prison and keep moving to find her friends, as they all fought together she realized that maybe she was where she belonged for now. Eventually, who knew, maybe her friends would make it to Everett, or maybe she really would leave, but as she took her shots against the zombie she came to see that for now she belonged here. They were all in this together - their banding together to fight against the monster made that very clear.
Except, no matter the firepower they used, it was clear that they weren't doing much damage. No matter how much ammo they used, it was as if the damn thing was indestructible, and as it kept lunging trees and whatever it could hold towards them, Robin's logical side reminded her that they would have to retreat at some point. They were going to run out of ammo, and then what?
A tree stump being thrown in her general direction made her run before trying to jump out of the way at once in an effort to get the hell out of dodge, but she suddenly lost her footing and came stumbling down. The surprise made it hard to prepare herself for the fall, but once the world stopped spinning she found herself staring up at the trees. She could hear the monster roaring, could hear the shouts of others yelling out directions on what to do next, and Robin sat up suddenly feeling very stupid for falling. She must have stepped on some uneven ground, she guessed, or maybe her foot got caught with something, because her ankle was beginning to hurt. It wasn't anything bad or earth shattering, though, so once the disorientation lessened, she sat up and adjusted her jacket before standing.
Her gun was missing, she realized. She must have dropped her gun at some point in the fall, so instead of rejoining the group she began to look for it in between the bushes, branches, and general debris the forest seemed to be littered with in the wake of a zombie that seemed to enjoy to tear down everything in its path.
Her search was stopped, however, as a sharp smell of sulfur hit her nostrils and made her halt. She must have walked further away than she had initially realized, because as she tried to hear for sounds of anyone else near by, the sounds of shouting and even the monster sounded a good distance away. What she did hear behind her, though, were slow footsteps. A heavy breathing that she knew wasn't truly breathing at all, because the damn thing approaching her wasn't alive, and whipping out the shotgun she still had with her she immediately took aim and began shooting when she saw the zombie. Robin had encountered countless of zombies on her trip from New York to the West Coast, that wasn't strange - what was different this time was the way the thing looked. It looked almost alive, it moved different than the others, and...
She remembered the talk about the demons on the net. So, this was a demon. Her heart clenched, ready for anything, but before she could really even shoot again, the demoned zombie moved faster than she expected and she did the only thing she could think of - she tried to hit it with the weapon because she had finished what she had of the ammo for it. It barely seemed to stumble back, though, and before she knew it, the damn thing swiped at her and sent her back as she hit a tree. Dots seemed to dance in her vision as she fell to the ground, but the sight of the gun she had been looking for earlier was suddenly within her reach. Once it was back in her hands, she began emptying her magazine on the zombie (demon?) but it wasn't doing any damage. If she didn't know any better she'd think it was smirking, but as it began to get closer to her the sight of Dean's friend standing between her and the zombie made her stop shooting. There was a bright light as he hit the monster, and immediately he turned and reached for her, took her hand--
And as she reopened her eyes, they were back in the prison, outside the infirmary as he held her by the arm to hold her upright. The change in scenery made everything spin, her stomach knotted and spinning, and...
"Are you all right?" the guy in the trenchcoat asked, and Robin stared at him as if he had grown a third head.
"What the crap. How-- We were--"
"Yes," Castiel simply answered. "You are back in the prison, but you seem to be bleeding. You need medical attention." Before Robin could argue, Castiel lead her as he still held onto her into the infirmary. She would have probably argued she didn't need it, but her legs felt like goo and as she touched the side of her head she realized that there was blood trickling down her temple and side of her cheek.
Huh.
"I'm okay," she mumbled quietly, but Castiel was already making her sit on one of the empty beds. She was too dizzy to stand, though, so...okay, maybe she would sit.
