She could feel his guilt creeping out through the walls he had up. She threaded her fingers through his, trying to soothe those rough edges. Kaitlyn could be fiery angry and lose her temper but she could also get herself in check especially if it meant helping to keep Gabriel in check. He seemed so fragile right now. She hoped he hadn't heard that because she knew he would hate it.
He wanted to be strong, they both did. They wanted to be able to survive on their own but the sad truth was that it just wasn't working. They weren't strong enough without help. Surviving zombies and crazy people out in the world was hard enough without two psycho psychics chasing them down. Kaitlyn knew that Jackal Mac and Frost weren't far behind. They never were. But this time they would have to come up against a group and not just Kaitlyn and Gabriel. Kait still had that scar on her arm from where Frost had taken her by surprise and cut her. Jackal Mac had laughed and Gabriel had punched one of his teeth out that night.
She tried to just send him positive thoughts and feelings in general. She could feel how tired and how irritable he was and she just wanted to get him home and into bed. They let themselves into the inn with the key Kaitlyn had in her pocket and they walked upstairs to their room. Once they were there, she pushed him onto the bed and started unlacing his shoes and pulling them off.
You need to rest.
And she needed to find some way to help him. Her energy alone was just barely keeping him together and she was afraid that him trying to drain The Tank might have been the final straw.
