The anger, that had always been a part of Gabriel but it was worse now with all of that dark energy he was feeding on. Was it even energy? She couldn't be certain what exactly Gabriel was feeding on when he preyed on zombies. She glared up at him fiercely when he pressed her against the tree. He was angry well she was angry too. They had to stick together.
"You can't help me if you're dead," she hissed out at him. "We're a team, remember? I can't be a team without you. There has to be a way, a better way for us to survive without you having to do something like that. You want to leave the inn. I've heard you, I get it. But we're safe at the inn. You haven't had to train a zombie since we got here. You're trying to protect me but I'm trying to protect you too."
It all just came spilling out of her before she could stop it. Her mouth actually moving faster than her brain in that moment and spilling everything. Although he probably knew most of it. She gave him complete and total access to her. Even to the terrible things, the ugly and locked away things. He had access to all of it. He knew her better than anyone else ever would.
Fine. But we're not leaving the inn. We are safe for the first time in a really long time. I'm tired of running. I want to find a home with you. Don't you want that too?
