The high pitched noise gradually went away but she doubted that he was fully recover. This was taking its toll on him. He promised her he wouldn't use that power anymore and then he went and used it on the biggest zombie ever. She wasn't sure whether to hug him or yell at him. She kind of wanted to do both at the same time.
"What was that thing?" Kaitlyn asked as she helped Gabriel to his feet. She could still feel the ground shaking and the roaring in the distance as the monster stomped off into the distance. Shaken, she turned to Gabriel who looked absolutely wiped out, like he could fall asleep at any second. He had just fed off of her energy but whatever he had gotten from The Tank had been so much darker. It was pure death and rage. Kaitlyn could feel it and it rattled her.
Besides she knew that she could scold him all she wanted and Gabriel was still going to do what Gabriel wanted. And if the tables were turned she might have tried to do something crazy to save him. That was what they did for each other. But God, if he had held on any longer? It was starting to take its toll on him. Kaitlyn wondered even if that was why he was so unhappy to be around people. All of that dark energy was making him impetuous.
"Can you make it back to the inn." She could feel the snarly retort coming and cut him off. "That was really stupid you know!" She was unable to help herself. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
