Gabriel couldn't hear her. Or maybe he didn't want to hear her. Not right now. For the most part, he was afraid of anything that she had to say to him. His eyes were heavy as was his body as she pulled him toward her. His head rested in her lap and he could feel her hands on him as he laid there, weak from attempting to drain a mutant zombie of it's lifeless energy. It was so dark, so full of anger and rage. Confusion. It was all wrapped up and Gabriel could barely even get his eyes open. He had told Kaitlyn he'd never attempt it again, but he had to do something. He couldn't just let it go after Kaitlyn. He'd never allow that. Better others than her, he thought. Or would have if he could.
Her voice broke through the pain and he shifted in her arms. She pushed him up and his lips met the transfer point. There was a time when he was hesitant with her. Treated her as if she were a doll, but she was much stronger than that. She could handle it. She could handle whatever bullshit came her way from him and it was so much. He put her through hell sometimes when he knew that he shouldn't. He didn't want to. He got frustrated so easily and even though he knew that it wasn't Kaitlyn's fault but his own, he'd have his tantrums. Little outbursts. He felt like a jerk a lot because of it.
His eyes were closed tight as he started drinking her energy, her life. She held him close, coaxing him on and all the darkness, everything that was disgusting and torturous inside of him was starting to dissipate. The darkness was slowly turning to gold. Death was turning to life and all the pain, all the lifelessness was disappearing. He clung onto her for dear life knowing very well that she was his safe haven. She was the one that could always bring him back. Always save him when he went over the edge, when he went too far.
His walls started to crumble, started to fall all around him as they shared the link freely. They were able to see into each others minds. Every hope, every fear was open, but he pulled away abruptly, taking a deep breath and slowly he looked at her. His eyes were wet, but they were open now and he reached up, wiping the skin under her eyes with his thumb. "You alright?" He asked, feeling much better than he was a minute or two ago.
