Downtown Everett looked like shit. It'd been looted and picked through. Dried blood and zombie guts were all over, along with abandoned cars. Some buildings were only remnants of what they once were while others stood proudly. He and Kaitlyn had taken a walk, mainly for Gabe to get away from the inn and they were on their way back when they both felt the ground move a little from under their feet. What the hell? Their eyes locked and as they turned around, Gabe was speechless. Which wasn't hard for him, but whatever it was that was coming their way was huge, ugly as fuck and strong. He yelled at Kaitlyn to get out of the way and the pair separated. Gabe hit the pavement dodging the piece of cement that was flung at them. He looked back as the piece rolled and jumped up, smashing into an abandoned car.
Gabe was on his feet and he backed up slowly, taking the monster in. It was like something he'd never seen before. It took off after them and he yelled for Kaitlyn to run, but it was clear that it was after Kaitlyn. It's coming after you. Get somewhere else! Quick! Gabriel would do anything in his power to make sure that nothing happened to Kaitlyn and once he saw that she was out of sight, that's when he began to focus. He knew what it did to him. He knew what was going to be waiting for him for doing this. He remembered he tried it at the hotel over a year ago, but it slowed them down. He wouldn't let that thing touch her.
So Gabriel stood in the middle of the road, his focus on the mutated zombie and he began to drain whatever was inside of it. It wasn't a life force, it wasn't life energy, it was something else and the moment he felt it, he felt the pain entering his head and streaming throughout his body. He let out a long, drawn out yell, but the monster seemed to not be phased by it. Gabriel fell to his knee's and he could feel tears behind his eyes, threatening to spill out from the pain. The zombie broke the spell as he stomped away. Through heavy eyelids, Gabriel watched as it jumped from car to car and eventually onto a building quickly. It was fast. Gabriel fell forward on his hands. It was after a few minutes that he heard the tiniest of sounds and it was Kaitlyn, but he pushed it out as he gathered himself and got to his feet. Everything on him hurt, but mostly his head. He prayed that it would just explode to get rid of the pressure and pain.
"Kaitlyn!" Yelling didn't exactly help his cause, but now that it was away from them - for now, he had to find her.
