"Pleasure, Meredith. May I call you Meredith?" He took her hand and kissed the back of it, letting his thumb graze her knuckles briefly before he released her. He hadn't compelled her yet but Eric was compelling all on his own and he knew it and used it to his advantage. This girl was a kitten in the wolves den. He didn't wait for her to answer his question before he continued on.
"So you're a doctor who uses vampire blood on your patients to heal them quickly. Is that right?" Eric asked as he backed off ever so slightly. He wanted to maintain the tiniest bit of insecurity in crowding her personal space without sending her running like a tasty gazelle out of the bar. "Does it bother you to know that you're obsolete."
It wasn't necessarily meant as an insult, just an observation on Eric's part. The humans could come directly to him and beg him to bleed for them. "You're a middle man between the vampires and the humans. Is that how you see yourself? What purpose does that serve?"
He tilted his head, genuinely curious to hear what her answer would be. She was a doctor who had walked right into arguably the most dangerous place on Earth to find blood for the prison hospital. It was either a very foolish or very brave woman who would do such a thing, possibly both. Eric found her intriguing despite his hurtful words.
