Humans were idiotic. Despite his ability to accept them as part of his world and to move around them as if he were one of them, Eric had always despised what he once was. Sure, there were a few interesting ones, like Barton for example. But he couldn't think of a single other one he liked. Sookie was a fairy and didn't count but Eric didn't even really like her. He might love her but he was working hard to undo that, including undoing the compulsion he had placed on Alcide to be disgusted by her.
He didn't care for humans but they were food. He noticed one in particular, quite lovely with dark hair as she sat by herself at the bar. She looked oddly put together for a woman who was clearly out of her element. The humans that usually congregated around Fangtasia looked used up and desperate because they were. There was nothing attractive about that but they were willing and ready. The same went for the whores at Katherine's although they received much better care. But there was that same desperation in their eyes. That dead look. This woman looked alive.
Eric immediately laid claim by sitting beside the woman at the bar and noting what she was drinking. He once again noted how she was dressed and that her heart did not race as she sat next to a vampire. Eric was not exactly subtle, he had a good idea that this woman wasn't stupid and knew she was sitting beside a vampire.
"There are only two reasons humans come to Fangtasia," he finally spoke up, his blue green eyes fixated intensely on her. "One is to look for a vampire to take care of them by selling their bodies and the other is for a cheap thrill. Why do I get the feeling that you don't fall under either category?"
