Selene had been doing a bit of last minute tidying and had just checked on dinner when her keen vampire hearing caught the sound of footsteps in her yard.
She opened the door at the knock. "Vestu heil ok sæel, Loki. Welcome to my house." She escorted her guest inside and closed the door. "Would you care for a drink before dinner? I keep a good selection of liquors and wines." She gestured to the well-stocked sideboard. "Serve yourself, or if you'd care to take a seat in front of the fire, I can get something for you. Dinner will be ready shortly."
Raised as the daughter of a well-off master craftsman, Selene had been instructed from an early age how to be the proper hostess, even though she hadn't used those skills for centuries.
But it was nice to have a houseguest. Even though she now shared her house with two others she seldom saw them, and her semi solitary existence was beginning to pall. Even sparring with Spike had been a welcome bit of social contact, although she did have to hold back quite a bit of her strength to avoid breaking the bumpy-faced vampire.
It's good to have a visitor to brighten up the day. Thank you for accepting my invitation."
