"Spencer.." Emily saw the flash of shock and even anger go across her friend's face. She understood hoping that Toby was alive. Emily prayed every day for her friends and that they were safe. She prayed for her parents that they would be okay on the coast helping survivors. This wasn't the sole stronghold of civilization because she knew her parents were helping humanity survive just as they were here.
"Look, I can admit that there is a possibility that it's his jacket, but you have to admit that the probability that it is his is miniscule." Emily stared down at the jacket again and felt a lump rise in her throat. It wasn't like she didn't want Toby to be here. He was one of her closest friends and she'd missed him dearly. But looking down at the jacket, the condition it was in and knowing how bad the storm had been? It scared her. It meant that if this was actually Toby's jacket then there was a good chance something bad had happened to him. Emily wanted to believe this wasn't his just for the sake of believing he was still out there and okay. He'd found other survivors and they were all helping each other.
"Where did you find it?" she asked, hoping to get off the is it his or not train of thought. "You said on the way back from Katherine's, right?" That didn't mean a lot to Emily exactly but she figured it was somewhere out in the woods.
"I can asked Logan or Laura to track him or something. You said there was still a scent. They have these tracking abilities that are crazy, but I'm not sure if the snow would hurt their chances in finding who left it." Because even if it was Toby's that didn't mean he was the one who dropped it. Ugh this sucked. Emily both wanted and didn't want it to be his for lots of reasons. There were too many questions and risks and she had no idea what it meant that the coat wasn't still with the person it belonged to. It was really freaking cold outside.
