Elena was wearing a parka even though she did not feel the cold anymore. It was one advantage to being a vampire as none of the Mystic Falls gang was used to the weather in Everett. Virginia had been a lot more temperate. Everett was just cold all of the time.
She sighed, "It's complicated." She never talked about turning it off and her reasons for doing so. She had talked to Caroline about it once. Damon never brought it up. She had never really talked to Jeremy about it. It was an understanding in their inner circle of what had happened and that it shouldn't be spread about.
"There was another vampire being held in one of the cages in the prison. I should have known at the time that he was in there for a reason. He made me feel something for him, pity mostly that he was locked up. I told him that I would free him if he would leave Everett and never return. He didn't keep up with his end of the bargain."
She started to walk the circle around the prison hoping that nobody would accidentally mistake them for zombies and shoot them. A headshot wouldn't kill her but it was murder on the hair and hurt like hell.
"He took me on a killing spree. He forced me to kill. I just couldn't take all of their terror and screams, I couldn't take it anymore so I turned it off and then it was," she paused for a second, "fun."
