"You should have no reason to be nervous with me, Elena," he finally said once she stopped. It was the truth. He'd grown to like Elena, more so at times he felt it was his duty to show his own version of compassion toward the girl, which he had on more than one occasion. "Perhaps you feel nervous for those you surround yourself with." After all, after speaking with Rebekah, her close and dear friend Bonnie had crossed a line. He couldn't imagine his sister, vulnerable to the point where she was terrified and having no idea what was going on with her. It shook him to know that she had to endure that, but his thoughts and worry were not shown on his features. He stared down at Elena, her wide eyes on him before she softened as well and he offered her a small yet amused smile.
"Of course, I don't know for sure. I no longer hear your heart beating." His smile was gone and he looked off before he started to walk again. He heard Elena start as well, eventually walking along side him. "You seem to have adjusted to your new found condition." He looked at her then. She still looked the same. A beautiful girl with long brown hair, olive skin, a most natural beauty.
He couldn't fault Rebekah for what she had done, not anymore and perhaps now that time had passed and everyone had moved on, he supposed he should as well. There was nothing left to save when it came to Elena, no magic, no elixir.
"How are you really, Elena? How is Jeremy?" He asked casually, coming to a stop as did she. His hands found his pockets as he watched her calmly, almost coolly.
