The radio suddenly crackled with life and Adrian saw Neal jump to get his own assurances that Shannon was okay. They all stopped walking for a moment in order not to lose the radio signal and he stood close to Jill. He and the slayer had started off with some rough patches, but he'd grown to like her. They were probably a lot alike which is why they'd clashed in their arguments.
"A few miles from the lake." Shannon's voices cracked on the radio and they all listened and Adrian immediately tried to find the direction of the lake from here. "On the west side towards town."
Staring around the forest and studying where the cabins were located when they found Dimitri and Rose, he nudged Jill and pointed to their left. "That way. The lake has to be in that direction."
He barely waited for Jill to clear another path before starting forward again. It wasn't incredibly close by, but it wasn't a long trek either compared to how much walking they'd already done. Plus, if she was on the west side then they should meet her before getting to the lake. Turning back, he looked at Rose and Neal.
"Tell her to stay put and we're on our way." Rose relayed the message then handed the radio to Neal to hold onto. "We shouldn't be more than a mile from her spot. Keep her talking on the radio."
