Jill was probably the most prepared and used to the cold than anyone. Michigan winters were nothing to sneeze at. Add in her time at school in Montana and she knew how to prep and endure snow storms. This was something else entirely. The snow was easily higher than waist deep if they had to go through it like normal people. Fortunately with a water user, they didn't have to do that. She was clearing the path and sending it off in every direction but their own.
Following the way the guys indicated, she quickly kept the lead, cleaning through the snow like a warm knife through butter. She too was grateful for the scarf she had on, and for the jacket. In her backpack was water, fresh socks for women and men, and food from the kitchen. As well as a couple thermoses full of hot chocolate. The sugar would help the people they found more than caffeine from coffee would.
Now they just needed to find those they needed to help. They walked for awhile and stopped when Adrian declared that Neal may be right. It was still hard to see, so Jill focused and suddenly cleared the falling snow out of their way as well, giving them a better view. There were clearly a couple of cabins spread out and even more off in the distance.
"Well, if they're in any of these, they're going to need to be cleared out. Look at how much snow has built up. It would be hard to see out the window and impossible to push the door open." With a look of determination, she marched forward, shoving her backpack at Adrian as she did so. She would need both hands free for this.
Stopping in front of the first cabin, she focused hard and with her hands, parted the snow from the door and windows, tossing it in opposite directions from the cabin and the three rescuers. "Okay, who wants to knock? It's more polite than barging in and I think I might smell smoke from a fire." Zombies wouldn't light a fire right?
