Dimitri simply stood there a little surprised when Rose disappeared up the stairs and came back down them rather loudly with.. the mattress. She actually had pulled the mattress down from upstairs so they could stay warm by the fire. Watching her quickly jump under the blankets, he laughed lightly and joined her.
He leaned up on his elbow to face her and brought the blanket back on the both of them. "Lovely idea you had."
The fire was nice and with the snow going outside he relished the quiet. There was something about a snow storm that was so wonderfully quiet that soothed him. He could remember standing outside as a boy or as a Guardian at the school during snow and listening to nothing but the silent sound of the flakes hitting the earth. The tinkling of ice in the trees.
"They must have called off all of the search parties by now," he said and gazed back at the window briefly. His mind was still in two places. One outside mentally searching for those that they'd set out for and back here with Rose in front of a warm fire glowing against her tanned skin.
