"Thank you so much, Claire. We won't forget your kindness."
Kaitlyn grabbed Gabriel's arm and dragged him up the stairs before he could spout off any smart retort that might put their current living situation in jeopardy. The last thing she needed was for Gabriel to offend Claire who had been kind enough to take them in. They both knew they couldn't go back out in the storm.
Once they were upstairs in their room, Kaitlyn pulled the curtains of the window open so they had a full view of the storm raging outside. "I don't think it's going to stop anytime soon. We were really lucky to have found this place."
Except they both knew it had nothing to do with luck. Fate had steered them here. Kait had steered them here with her drawing. She was just glad she didn't have any strong feelings at the moment other than exhaustion. She walked into the bathroom and tested the water.
"Hot water," she said as she walked back over to Gabriel and wrapped her arms around his waist before pressing her cheek against his chest. "Take a hot shower with me?"
