The last year they had been on the run. They were always looking for a destination, but just as quick as they had found one, it was taken away just as quickly. They were psychics, but above all else, they were human. It was a hard pill to swallow for Gabriel who once thought they and their friends, their link was unstoppable. He was told they could have anything they could and would ever want, but in this world, it just seemed as though everything was taken away from them. They hadn't spoken to their friends since they left that day on the island to get away and steal some time together. It was a mistake, he knew that now and even after a year, the thought of not knowing what happened to them weighed heavily on them. It was as if he couldn't escape it.
Watching Kaitlyn shoot her father was something they didn't talk about. Or actually, Gabriel didn't bring it up. He had offered to do it for her, but she felt that it was something she needed to do. As if she was closing a chapter on her life and he didn't stand in the way of that.
Now they were back where they had basically started, in the same direction and they had fought about going back to the island. Gabriel thought it was no use. That they were gone, but that feeling of not knowing - wouldn't they feel it in the link if something had happened to them? No matter how far they were? Of course they would. He still had the link with Kaitlyn, but they had seen so many different things lately in the past year, he felt that anything was possible.
Walking beside her, he had his arm around her, yet he was trying to shield her from the snow that was coming down harder. His body almost felt numb and he was practically pulling her along, but something inside of her jolted and he snapped his head toward the direction she was pointing. It was just like the drawing she had shown him the night before and he stopped, not sure if it was the best idea, but they did need shelter. They needed something other than this storm.
"Fine!" He yelled over the wind and cold as he led her toward the building. They both rushed up on the front porch of it, under the covering and wiped the snow and cold from their faces. He noticed in the window a light was on. "They have power." He almost smiled at that fact. If there was light, there was heat and looking at Kait right now, she wasn't looking too good. He rubbed her arms before turning and banging on the door. He barely felt her and he barely felt the door, but he turned his head and saw movement.
