"Hopefully it will clear up before we have to resort to setting the tower on fire." Not that he thought she meant that, but teasing her kept the mood light. Connor didn't think that Dawn was someone who would panic in a situation like this. He could think of several people who would. Several who would actually make Connor consider jumping out the door and trying his luck with the snow. Dawn wasn't like that. She kept a solid head on her shoulders.
Except right now it was on her knee. His fingers went back to stroking her hair. Slowly removing any residual traces of snow from it. It was mostly an excuse to touch it. He really did like the way it felt against his fingers. "I knew you would like it, so I got it for you. It didn't matter if you softened up or not. You have a right to have things that make you happy. If they happen to make you safe on top of that? Even better."
His hand slowly cupped the side of her face, tilting her chin to look up at him. "If I wanted to soften you up, I would stop fighting the urge to do this." He moved in closer now, not really caring about survival body heat. The heat in his body had nothing to do with the snow. Both hands cupped either side of her face as he kissed her. She'd either kiss back or punch him, but at least he'd finally made his damn move.
