Sam had wanted to take up Dimitri's offer to sit in on sentry duty that morning. He had been recovering steadily, but even though his fever had broken and Sam beaten one infection, he was still fighting pneumonia on next to no sleep and the nurses knew it. The moment he woke up from what was more of a nap than a much needed rest, Sam knew he must have looked like death warmed over judging by the looks one of stern looks a volunteer and nurse gave him. It wasn't all horrible, though. He stayed up talking with Dean. It had been the first time in a long time, and as hard as it was for Sam to accept, things could only get better.
Apparently that didn't apply to being sick. Even though he was miserable and still very much unwell, he wasn't sick enough to ignore just how boring it was to stay cooped up in his tiny room in the infirmary. When he tried to out his shoes on to make an escape, one of the nurses walked over, snatched his boots up and walked off with them. The action spoke volumes, and all Sam could do was sulk when he realized he wasn't going to be able to leave just yet. He spent the rest of his day dozing on and off with a books on Demi-Gods on his lap until he was rested enough to fight sleep again, and stay awake for more than an hour at a time. He had just flipped open the last book Connor had given him to go over when an unexpected guest entered his room, holding two cups. Sam blinked up at the woman. He cocked his head to the side and before he could say a word, she was introducing herself. Good, he thought. He was glad he was right not to recognize her. That could have been embarrassing, especially if he didn't remember someone as distinct as her. Especially since she was clearly a saint for bringing him what had to be hot chocolate... but why was she in the first place, and how did she know who he was? Was she a friend of Dean's? Did she know what happened?
Sam smiled, albeit a little awkwardly. "Wow.. uh, thanks." He accepted the cup with one hand, and shook her free hand with his own. "Nice to meet you, Victoria. And yeah, they're taking good care of me here. Are you a friend of Dean's?"
