It was funny how just minutes ago the last thing Dean had wanted to do was smile let alone laugh and now with just a quirky wiggle of her eyebrows Robin had him wanting to do both. Right side of his lips quirking up as his eyes followed her, the flirtation in her voice tugging at him for a response that came all too easily. Words punctuated with a wink as he leaned in, “Keep talking like that and you’ll make the snow melt right under my feet.”
The memory of their last dance under the sheets still fresh enough that he could feel the hot press of her skin, the soft brush of her lips, the hard edge of her teeth if he closed his eyes and just let himself. The temptation stronger to do so when she was so close, the inappropriateness of taking this kind of escape when his mind should still be focused firmly on his brother adding an extra spark to it. But while some may beg to differ Dean had a sense of self- control, the green in his eyes sticking to a low smolder instead of catching flame. Which was easier to do when Robin’s passing interest in demons and the supernatural proved to be more than that.
“Do you really want to know?” It was a stupid question to ask he knew because Dean had enough sense of her now to know that Robin meant what she was saying. Her hand resting beside his own, fingers tangling over his tattoo, and thinking about it that way almost made him want to refuse. Because what he knew wasn’t safe and he didn’t want her to touch it, dirty what innocence she had left, but it was a stupid impulse considering what he’d just handed her. Danger was coming and whether it was a hell god or a demon, knowledge was the best defense they had.
So he kissed her.
Tucking long brown strands behind the shell of her ear as he slid forward, answering with the slide of his lips against hers. Saying yes and of course and I’m glad you’re here along with possibly a hundred other intimate things he wasn’t paying close attention to. Hand resting on her cold cheek as he drew her in and kept her there. Feeling relief in knowing that for this moment she was safe right beside him when in the future that might not always be true.
