Dean’s eyes widened a bit at her reaction, bare hand coming out of the warmth of his pocket to rub against her back. Stealing some warmth from the friction as he moved his palm up and down between her shoulder blades. The gesture bringing him an extra step close so that their shoulders bumped. Offering an apologetic smile when she turned those blue eyes back in his direction, words a little husky from her coughing and sending a familiar, pleasant shiver down his back. Adding some real life to his smile even if the subject of his brother took him to some darker places. Free hand moving to take the small burning stick from her and pulling in a deep breath before he replied, “Pretending to be asleep like a brat. I finally get him talking and then he just clams up. He should know that he can tell me anything, but he's being difficult.”
There were reasons for that he was sure, remembering far too well the last time something like this had happened to Sam. How he’d nearly gone frantic trying to find him as well as the pain in his brother’s eyes when it was all over and Meg was back in hell where she belonged. How there had been days Sam couldn’t even look himself in the mirror because of the murder he’d been forced to commit. How back then, just like now, Dean’s words hadn’t been able to reach him and set him straight because while there were moments where they didn’t understand each other he still knew his little brother the best and he was no murderer.
He had to hand Robin her cigarette back to keep himself from accidentally crushing it then. His emotions still closer to the surface than he’d like though thinking about all of that now did remind him about one very important thing. Right hand sneaking back into his jacket pocket as he said, “By the way, I have something for you.”
Hand wrapping around the small clothed bundle Dean pulled out a hex bag, one of the last he had considering the ingredients were scarce now and harder to find. Taking her free hand in his own he placed it there and explained, “This is hex bag and it's kind of like a charm. I want you to keep this with you at all times if ya can. This will shield you from demons.”
