Steve wasn’t the only one who thought that this woman was unhinged. Just the way that she looked at them chilled Maria down to the bone. She thought that the worst that she’d ever have to deal with was a homicidal demigod who seemed intent on either enslaving or killing them all. Oh no, apparently there was worse out there. Apparently, there were gods out there who simply wanted to eat them. The thought of that was utterly terrifying.
She wanted to protest, saying that she could take care of herself, but a good soldier knew when you were in an unwinnable situation. If she got out of here quick enough, she might be able to get to the others. The only person who had a real chance against this woman was Thor, and Loki if he was feeling up to cooperating today. Sure, there was a truce, but she wasn’t sure how much she really bought that.
She couldn’t nod or anything to let him know that she heard and understood him, but she started to lower her gun and ease into a stance that would be good for sprinting when he decided to get with the ‘buying of time.’ She didn’t like this one bit, but, as Steve lashed out, she was getting ready to run.
And DAMN if she didn’t hate being nothing but pure human right now.
