Things could certainly be said things had gotten complicated as of late. Maria had the impulse to just kind of lock herself away and not deal with anything, but she knew that really wasn't the way to go. Clint and Natasha had a wedding coming up, plus Clint now had the issue with his brother being in town. The less said about that relationship, the better. Plus, Maria had her own issues to deal with. Still, if she kept herself among others, she wouldn't shut down. That much she knew. She couldn't shut down right now.
When she heard a knock at the door, she straightened up in the chair she had been sitting in. She hadn't been expecting anyone to come by, but that hardly meant anything. Clint or Natasha could be coming by to check in on her, or even any of the other Avengers. Hell, if he promised to behave, she might even welcome Loki's company right now just for someone to talk to. This place was too quiet with just her around.
Thankfully, it wasn't the trickster god at her door. She smiled when she checked the security feed and just saw that it was Steve. Of anyone, he might be the easiest to deal with. Unfailingly polite as always. She could handle that. Opening the door, she gave him a slight smile. "Hi," she said, taking a second to clear her throat. When was the last time she had spoken aloud? When Tony was here? "Want to come in?" she asked, leaning forward slightly to look and see if anyone was with him.
