"Okay, so I may need my head checked for saying this but I don't think Alec's as bad as everyone's making him out to be. I don't think he'd kill you, Max. He's one of us. He did what he had to do to get Rebekah back. I know it didn't work out so well for the prison but maybe they shouldn't have put her in the ground to begin with."
She supposed she did have some opinions. She had been hating Alec all this time because he was a bad reminder of what could have been. He reminded her of Ben and Jondy had been very close to Ben as a child. The two of them had been like Max and Zack. Always together, talking, telling stories, learning things the hard way. She like Max blamed herself for his death. If she had been there for him, if she would have just reached out...
"What's so great about the prison?" She wasn't defensive in her question. She honestly legitimately wanted to know what was so great about it. She could understand why the humans went there. It was good shelter against biters. The humans she understood. But what about the scores of vampires and slayers and supernaturals and Max herself. Max didn't need to hide away in the prison, she was strong. But she went to the prison anyway. Jondy wanted to know.
She reached out and gave Tinga a quick scratch behind her ear before she shoved both hands in her pockets and began to walk strategically away from the cabins. Just because she didn't think Alec would kill Max didn't mean she wanted to deal with their drama either.
