"Okay," she said. What else could say say? She knew what it was like to be haunted. It had nearly driven her straight to the looney bin. She was afraid of going crazy like poor Anna had done. Shadowkissed had been such a new word then but now it was old hat. They knew what it could do to a person, hell Rose had lived it and in these circumstances she couldn't argue that Jill wouldn't be better off some place away from all the ghosts.
"As long as you take Adrian with you." And imagine that, trusting Adrian to the be the responsible one. But Rose found that she did, trust Adrian that was. He had changed a lot in their year apart. No, it was longer than that even. She wasn't sure what had inspired the change in him, if it had been Jill herself that had done it. A little flair of jealousy suddenly if it had been Jill. Rose had never been able to get Adrian to be responsible even with that stupid contract. But she knew she had no room to complain when she had never been fully committed to their relationship even if she had liked to kid herself into thinking she was.
"You wanna go get him? I can see you off. And if anything happens to you two while you're over there I'm killing Katherine and Eric." Rose was sure she could do it. It didn't even cross her mind that she couldn't. Killing other vampires was a lot like staking Strigoi. Find the heart, aim the pointy object and plunge. Dead vampire. Sure there were little tricks to the trade on all different species but that seemed to remain the constant.
