Sitting in silence with Christian had been both for her good and his. She didn't want him to be alone with his parents and Lissa didn't want the same for herself. Rose was staying with Jill and she didn't want to intrude on that or expose Jill to more ghosts especially ones that would cause her to struggle more because of who they were. Her parents, brother, and Victor Dashkov, the once beloved uncle who had tortured her and tried to control her for his gain. Lissa wanted to protect her sister from all of that, but when her father disappeared she knew exactly where he had gone.
Christian's parents had no problem filling up the silence with their words, but she didn't take the bait. Andre and Rhea argued back and forth between them and Lissa simply kept her head in Christian's lap and took comfort in his fingers stroking her hair gently. There was a moment when they all vanished and after a few moments Lissa sat up and sighed, squeezing Christian's hand.
"I'm going to go check on Rose and Jill and Adrian. I'll be back soon." She kissed his cheek and didn't wait for an answer. She didn't want to push him to talk because she wasn't in the mood to talk either. When she found Adrian in his room he was nursing a drink, muttering to himself. He seemed better than he had when she'd seen him before, but Lissa was still worried about how he was handling himself. It was a big family reunion here at the prison for the Moroi.
Making sure he was alright before she left, Lissa left to find Jill and Rose in Jill's cell. On her way there she was joined again by her mother and brother who urged her to go back to Christian. She didn't listen to them as she rounded a corner and approached the cell, stopping short in the doorway when she saw exactly who had decided to appear.
The others were there, but Lissa's green eyes locked with her father's. Not far from him were Victor and the Strigoi that had taken Dimitri's sister. The one that had wanted her dead. She shivered at the memories that dared to rise up in her mind again, but she shook them off and looked at Rose and Jill. Rose was trying to be so brave, but Jill looked terrified and so small on the floor. It broke Lissa's heart.
"Hello," she said to her father and sounded like the Queen she had been elected to be. To Victor and Nathan she glared those green eyes at both of them, hating the two of them. "Get out."
