Who: Neal and Peter
What. Catching up and 'splaining a thing or two
Where: Peter's cell for now
Warnings: Probably not
The relief that Neal had felt the second Peter showed himself on the network was hard to describe. It had been over a year since he'd seen his friend and partner and while he'd hoped for the best he also feared the worst. The feeling of relief he felt when Peter showed up was unexplainable. He'd talked to Serena sometimes in the kitchen about their friends back in New York and whether or not they'd made it out. Neal had always maintained that if anyone could survive in these times, it would be Peter. Mozzie too but because he assumed he'd be sealed inside a safe house or cave somewhere. Instead he found out that he, Elle, June, and even Satchmo were safe and together in Canada. It was the best news he'd heard in a long time.
Neal knew that Peter had questions especially after telling him that there were.. different people living at the prison. Some who weren't even people at all. Vampires, slayers, super mutants oh my. But he wanted Peter to get comfortable first before the first round of questioning started and Neal explained what he had been doing for the last six months. It helped that he had been wearing a heavy coat and scarf when they first saw each other again so that the bite marks on either side of his neck remained safely concealed. Wouldn't that be a fun conversation he knew he would to have soon since he couldn't get away with wearing scarves every single day. At least Rebekah wasn't around anymore to threaten or come after him. He could just imagine that conversation.
Peter lifted Neal's spirits by nothing more than being around the prison. He'd often talked to Shannon about his past and the people in it, so she was quickly someone he jumped at the chance to introduce Peter to. Then there was Serena, Adrian, and Christian and some of the others. Neal couldn't tell exactly what Peter's reaction to everyone was yet, but he did looked like he was enjoying himself with each personality he was introduced to.
Today had been Neal's breakfast shift in the kitchen and after helping to clean up and get the start of lunch going he took his break and showered away the grease he always felt clung to him after his shifts. His hair was still wet, but he dressed in track pants and a tshirt and went to find Peter but stopped by the cafeteria again to pick up two cups of coffee. If it could count as coffee, but it had caffeine. Neal doubted he'd gotten onto the schedule for sentry duty yet, so he stopped by his cell first and spotted him there.
"This may get up and walk away on its own, but it's hot," he said and offered the styrofoam cup to him. "Decorated your side of the cell yet?" One look around and he knew he hadn't. Elle had been the decorator of their relationship.
