Who: Colleen, Angel, Faith and Cristina What: Colleen is out on a raid and gets seriously injured, Dr. Yang makes the hard choice Where: A pet store in Everett and the prison When: Tonight Warnings: Gore, amputation Notes: Reposted for a later date than originally planned
Everyone was back to normal at the prison which was good and bad. It was good because all of her friends were her friends again, especially Stiles who really couldn't handle being a vampire. Not that C blamed him, she didn't think she could either so she worried about him the most. It was also bad because C herself hadn't been effected by the body swap and had gotten to spend many glorious days with her favorite furballs Spocky and the Doctor because Sheldon was busy being Tyler. He really was living proof that personality could influence a person's sexy factor. Take Sheldon for example. Totally not doable until he was plunked down in Tyler's body and then only doable if she could put duct tape over his mouth because every time he opened it up Sheldon came out and ruined the illusion.
Oh well, things were things and they went on as normal for the tiny vampire slayer. She had gotten used to her routine ever since Dom had died. She mostly hung out with herself since others had a very low tolerance for her antics. And those that humored her were often busy with their own dramas and lives. She didn't fault any of them for having their own things going on. She loved them despite their faults and somehow understood that she never really fit in with any of them.
Colleen could see herself falling away more and more each day. She wasn't like the other slayers. Whatever gene that the rest of them shared to make them badass warrior women hadn't corrupted Colleen yet. While she wasn't eloquent enough to determine the cause of her unease, she understood that there was something missing in her that the other girls all shared. Colleen wasn't a sister slayer. Not unless they had a helmet for the brain damaged little sister.
It wasn't for a lack of trying. She wanted to be what she was destined to be. Scared as she was, she had fought her way out of that vampire nest Connor had (so rudely) just plunked her down in the middle of. She entertained Stefan's notions of turning her into some Buffy killer when both of them knew that was a joke. Colleen could barely take down Stefan on her own so how was she supposed to kill Buffy exactly? It was ridiculous. She even sparred with Shannon to help fight the boredom. But it took someone special to be a killer and it just wasn't in Colleen's DNA.
Somewhere in the last few days she had decided to just embrace being who she was instead of trying to be someone else. She was Colleen The Zombie Slayer. Was it as cool as being a vampire slayer? Probably not but it was pretty damn useful in a world that was populated mostly by the undead. She didn't need to fight that hard, she didn't need to kill what wasn't already dead. One smack to the head with her infamous baseball bat and those suckers went down hard. Maybe she could start thinking up more inventive ways to kill them, really make herself special. Colleen The Zombie Slayer. She would be the first and only.
In the meantime, she had wandered into the local pet store. It was one of the few stores that wasn't totally picked over because who cared about pets in an apocalypse? Well, Sheldon did and Colleen was grateful for that because she liked having her furry little friends to watch out for. Despite not being picked over, the building wasn't in great shape. There had been construction going on next door and the crane had fallen into the pet store and smashed in part of the roof. Colleen just hoped it hadn't crushed the part of the store that contained the cat food. She scanned the aisles with her eyes and finally stopped in front of the cat food. The big heavy bags were on the top shelf. It figured. She put her hands on her hips and looked up at the cat food.
"This earns me some serious snuggles," she decided outloud.
She grabbed the edge of the shelf and once deciding it was sturdy enough to hold her weight began to climb up to the top. Once she was there, she grabbed one of the heavy bags of cat food and balanced it on one shoulder. She had miscalculated how heavy the bag was though and suddenly the weight balance was thrown off. Colleen could feel herself falling backwards before she realized what was happening.
When Colleen came to there were stars dancing in her vision. She must have blacked out although she didn't remember doing that. She coughed a couple of times and started to move when she realized that she was pinned. She shoved at the shelving, pushing it off of her as best as she could with dust in her eyes. She tried to move again but realized that her leg was pinned, sitting up a little bit she saw all of the blood. There was blood all over the floor, pooling especially under the part of her leg that was pinned to the floor by the giant metal beam. Sitting up a little bit more, Colleen tried to ignore the grinding pain as she tried to heft the beam off of her leg. It was too awkward and every time she moved her leg screamed in agony. A slayer's tolerance for pain was outmatched and Colleen's tolerance was being tested. She tried to move it again and then finally had to take a rest, laying on the floor and breathing hard.
"Hello?" she called out. "HELLO! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME!"
She really hoped that there were other raiders out and about. Night had fallen while she had slept and there was no telling what might come if you called in Everett.
"HELP ME!"
She heard footsteps approaching and she grew quiet.
