"I can see that," she said, her eyes sliding across his body. Why was it that she had never before stopped to admire how handsome he was? Perhaps she had in the beginning but had stopped due to their antagonistic relationship. If he had been stronger it might have turned her on. But now he was plenty strong.
"It seems you've already mastered the art of not killing when you feed. The trick is to listen to their heartbeat," she explained as they walked away from the projects and into the woods. "Once it begins to slow you need to stop feeding or risk killing your victim." Once upon a time Rebekah hadn't cared much who she killed but that was when people were practically walking happy meals. These days the human population was too thin to go about killing too many of them.
"You'll need to learn how to compel them too. It's rather simple, just make eye contact and believe what you're saying to them. They'll believe it too. You'll feel it and know."
Her plan was to bring him to the prison, wait for one of the unsuspecting raiders to leave and grab them.
