"My family's huge," Maurya admitted. "Four sisters, my mom was one of four, my dad was one of eight... the majority of my mom's side of the family is all in this really small area, all up in each other's business. Tons of cousins, the works." Her dad's side still wasn't too nuts about her family, but they were a bunch of closed minded ancients, anyway. Having the sin of homosexuality pop up in their granddaughters had only proven their point about their mother, apparently.
Maurya's mind turned over a little at the marriage question. I was visiting my dead fiance's grave, and I may be slightly emotionally crippled from that loss, but it's cool: I might be pregnant with my gay BFF's baby. There was really no way to unload that kind of thing on a stranger, so she just shook her head. "Almost, once. Beyond that I guess I've been too career focused. Will you have anyone to step up and help with your dad until we're rescued?"
