Maurya had gathered that the tiny blonde nurse was pretty well out of options, that or just an incompetent blabbermouth, but everyone seemed to like her well enough. Or, they had before the meeting had started. After, she wasn't so sure. In all honesty it had been a pretty terrible time for Maurya to take a first impression of anybody, because to her they'd all come off as batshit insane. She had finally accepted that she couldn't hold this one crazy encounter against them - these people had been dealing with the unimaginable for a lot longer than she had, and internal stressors were only going to continue to bring out the worst. She couldn't really blame anyone for being at the end of their rope with Marco - she'd never even met the man before, and she'd found herself resenting him. Really? They didn't have enough going on?
"Half of my career is writing grants, applying for permits, and trying to communicate with foreign volunteers or protesters," Maurya answered. "So, if you'd asked me an hour ago, I would have said pretty good. Now I'm not so sure. I think I'd rather the superstitious villagers that think I'm desecrating their land."
