Jack nodded, trying to focus on the fact that it should have been something to look forward to. That he was helping Kai, and if the messages were true, Kai hadn't been an asshole. He supposed he could ask her if the posts were real when they got together later, but he'd rather have whatever was going to happen don and over with by then.
"I'm making food. Nothing fancy, just a nacho bar." The wave of bitterness hit him suddenly, and he snorted. "I got tired a little tired of cooking shit for everyone so they could afford to eat something other than crap in the bunker, so I was planning on taking a few days off." Not that he hadn't already broken that plan with the cinnamon rolls the day before, but that was beside the point. He also felt bad for thinking that, let alone saying it out loud. He hadn't done it to be owed anything, or to make people feel obligated to treat him differently, he'd only wanted to help. With a sigh he stood, heading for the mini fridge to grab the beer he'd mentioned before.
