Marco wasn't sure how to help Juno, other than try to take care of the baby himself, when he could. He hadn't decided how to feel about Marquito yet. He knew that this could go bad if he wasn't careful, though he wasn't sure exactly what way it would go bad yet. It was a robot, which was unsettling, but he liked the idea of having this little baby that he couldn't actually hurt. He couldn't accidentally poison it, he couldn't hurt it's feelings by doing something crazy or going away for a while, and it sure as hell wasn't going to inherit his illness. It felt wrong to admit, especially to Juno, who looked so scared, but he thought he might actually like having the baby.
The rest of this experiment could fuck off, though. "We'll be fine," he sighed, and hoped that he wasn't just being stupidly optimistic.
He blinked a few times as she brought up the money again, which wasn't really something that he wanted to talk about, but Juno had a point. "Um, no, it's fine, it's just, um... I only, um... There was only nine dollars in my wallet when I woke up this morning." He tried to shift to grab his wallet without jostling the baby too much. It took a moment, since it had shifted when he'd tied down his coveralls, but he finally placed the wallet on the table between them. "I made a little bit of money at work today, and I know, um, things cost less now than, um... I guess... what we're used to... But it's still..." He shook his head. "I just want, um, like a buck, for cigarettes? But the rest is yours, for groceries and shit."
