It was all so stupid, but Kai had never felt such intense relief in her life. She felt absolutely certain that everything would be okay now. As long as she didn't have to be alone anymore, she could deal with anything. It was one of the best days of her life. And so, tears. Lots and lots of tears. She was easily lead in those moments, sitting obediently as she tried to calm her cries and wipe at her eyes.
"I was here before," she said, trembling from pure emotional overload. "I was here..." she sniffled desperately as she thought back, "Almost two weeks? And then I wasn't. I was alone. They put me in another place and there was no one there and it's been so long I didn't think I'd ever get out." She blinked stupidly at Theo. "Was it just me? For a while I thought maybe they did it to everyone, but then I thought maybe that's just where the people that disappear go. Maybe we're just locked up for some reason."
