Kai's eyes had gone wide again at the sound of footsteps, and was mentally floored when she actually saw another person. It wasn't a person she recognized, but that didn't matter so much. It had been so long. The only contact she'd ever had with anybody was Them, and always just notes on her computer, and not actual interaction. It had been so desperately lonely, and Kai wasn't the sort of person that dealt well with long-term solitude to begin with. She'd never in her life even lived by herself. A weekend with the flat to herself, perhaps, but there were still people to be found! She still went out and socialized at some point during each day! Hell, Kai didn't even know how long she'd been in the tower.
Her reaction to the question was probably a very strange one, full of several different actions in a terribly short period of time. Kai laughed, launched at the woman in a most excellent flying squirrel tackle-hug, and burst into tears. "I do want to be here!" she sobbed. "I didn't think they'd ever let me out again!"
