Who: Owen and Cecilia
When: Sunset
Where: Heading down to the party
Cecilia hadn't known what to make of Owen being gone when she woke up, but she couldn't be too worried about it. Despite her insistence that they were both adults and it didn't have to be awkward, it had, in fact, been extremely awkward. Cecilia was always something of a restless sleeper; her anxiety was highest at night and her sleep was often troubled by bad dreams. Last night she'd gotten even less sleep than normal, having the added concern of sharing a bed with Owen. She had been hyper aware of his presence in the room, and she'd worried about waking him or crossing some invisible line every time she moved. At some point he'd left and she'd slept a little deeper, and she awoke feeling vaguely embarrassed over the whole thing. It had not been one of her better ideas. She probably needed to talk to him about it, but she hadn't crossed paths with him much over the course of the day.
She'd spent the day mostly swimming with Neptune or lounging by the pool with a book, working up a pretty decent tan. She'd decided against telling Jack she'd missed her birthday, because she really didn't see much point in it. She'd spent her day relaxing and trying not to let her mind obsess over her current rooming situation.
She had found a costume, after some mental waffling over whether or not she'd bother to dress up at all. She'd found a turquoise mermaid costume that wasn't over-the-top revealing, so she decided to bite the bullet and do it up. When it came close to party time she changed, did her make-up, and mostly just ran her fingers through her hair. The humidity had made it much curlier than normal, and unless she was throwing it into a ponytail, she didn't personally see the point in trying to tame it. She felt a little ridiculous looking at herself in the bathroom mirror, but managed to suck it up and head out. She even found a couple of Hawaiian leis to wrap around Neptune's neck, so the dog had a sort of costume, too. If it hadn't been so hot, she would have considered putting a Hawaiian shirt on him, but that would have bordered on animal cruelty.
Cecilia and Neptune made their way to the gates a while after they had opened, and Cecilia regarded the cable cars with curiosity. For a moment she mistrusted them, and then she felt silly about it in the next second. These people had really brought out her paranoia.
