Who: Claudia Lloyd and Charlie Brandon When: After school. Backdated to yesterday. Where: School library What: Charlie attempts to make nice and Claudia blows him off. This is the reason why Charlie wrote this entry.
Same suituation...different location. In fact, the circumstances leading up to this present moment were scarily similar to the ones that had lead up to the Kitchen Incident. They had both come towards the object from opposite sides. They had both been in their own little worlds to notice the other until it was too late. They both held the only copy of Star Wars: A New Hope (digitaly remastered) in matching death grips.
As they glared at each other, Charlie was thankfully reminded that there was only one more day to go before his March Break road trip. That this was a library and the nice libarian would probably cry if they were to make a wreck of things. And that he could not afford any more detentions/suspensions...not at the risk of that said fun road trip anyway.
Shit.
It wasn't fair at all. Obviously the harpy had no such qualms about starting a fight. And the way she was just smirking at him like that...Fuck! She had to have realized all the same things that he just did! Her dark eyes were wide as she looked at him. They were just a touch too innocent. Charlie knew a challange when he saw one. He almost growled. And then his eyes focused on the fading bruise above her eye. Oh...
He was staring at her bruise. Claudia rolled her eyes when she realized this. The expression on Charlie's face had gone all soft in a matter of minutes and she knew the 'gripped by guilt' expression when she saw it. It was enough to make her want to hurl. She gave the dvd a sharp tug. Anger she could deal with. Sympathy..not so much. "Stop fucking staring. It's just a bruise for god's sake. And no you can't touch it." She gave the dvd a sharp tug, watching in satisfaction as the irritated look came back into Charlie's expression.
It was a wonder how she could be so bitchy. Charlie averted his gaze from the bruise and scowled. The sharp tugging motions she was making wasn't helping either. Pushy bitch...Charlie thought and longed to say that out loud. But he couldn't really. Instead he cleared his throat and gave her a little smile. It wasn't sincere in the least, since behind it he was rather hoping that she'd just disappear.
"I don't think reasoning with you would work." He said in a tone that was meant to be playful. Slowly Charlie let go of the dvd. He had really wanted to watch Star Wars...but he could still catch it online or something. Bigger person...you had to be the bigger person. "I'm really sorry about giving you that bruise." He said, gesturing toward it with his now free right hand. "And we started off on the wrong foot really. So we should really just move on and start over."
He was so impressed by himself that he didn't notice Claudia rolling her eyes. Charlie held out his right hand and flashed her his most charming smile. "I'm Charlie. I do illusions." And then there was a Pikachu on his shoulder, waving at her. His right hand hung between them as he waited for her to take it. Charlie's mind was already wandering. Now that they were friends he could probably ask her to watch the dvd quickly and pass it over to him?
Claudia had quickly snatched the dvd up and was holding it close. What the hell was the jackass prattling on about now. She stared at him, his words and actions making anger raise in her throat. It was fine that he was apologizing but did he have to follow up with all that stupid shit about being friends. She stared at him, looking at the smug look on Charlie's face. Claudia could just see where his thoughts were going. What did he think that she'd fall at his feet because he could make a cartoon rat appear out of thin air.
"You're a fucking fake." She said and casually leaned in, spitting on his outstretched hand. "Work on not being so transparent." Enjoying the shocked look on his face for a moment, Claudia turned on her heel and walked off towards the check out counter.
