"Obviously Katou-kun hasn't learned from his mistakes," Iwaki said and sent his lover a glare. "I am sorry, Yoshizumi-san." Yoshizumi didn't look worried, but Iwaki knew how well his friend was able to hide his feelings behind that friendly mask.
"Please, don't apologise, Iwaki-kun. This time, Katou-kun actually did ask what I wanted for my birthday." Yoshizumi rubbed his hand where a vivid, red mark marred his knuckles. One of them was bleeding a little.
"Where did you get that thing?" Iwaki growled at Katou, as if he hadn't heard Yoshizumi's words.
Katou was trying to wind some rope around a small tree, which in turn was trying to avoid Katou's attempt to restrain it by waving its small branches violently.
"New shop," Katou said and caught one of the tiny twigs between two fingers. "Borgin & Burkes Bonsai," he said, and winced as the bonsai got in a particularly nasty blow.

bronze_ribbons - I wanted to play with Yoshizumi being an otaku...
Prompt(s): "Yoshizumi/movies
"It is a part of my development as an actor," Yoshizumi told himself before he went over to the shelves, determined, as if he was looking for something particular.
Anyone who knew Yoshizumi would have thought that the original model might have been snatched away by aliens and replaced by this other Yoshizumi. It was, however, not the case. But even the calm, relaxed, no-nonsense actor had his moments of... something... Not soppiness or lovey-dovey foolish behaviour, no. That was not how Yoshizumi was. Still, his odd behaviour would have baffled each and every one of his friends. He would have left them wondering about mental stability, or even his sanity. Yoshizumi just told himself that any man has the right to an obsession. "No, no, no... no." Yoshizumi tilted his head as if he was trying to read text that accidentally had been printed wrongly as he excluded one after another.
Obsession... Iwaki was obsessed with Katou. Katou with Iwaki. Director Mochimune, with whom Yoshizumi had worked once or twice, was obsessed with blood and psychopathic murderers. Of course Yoshizumi's obsession was handled calmly and without any fuss. It was labelled and put on shelves, and the occasional dusting of it was carried out with the same care Yoshizumi took of all his possessions. Yoshizumi used most of his free time on watching films he had collected since he had appeared in Fuyu no Semi.
Yoshizumi did not see himself as an otaku. He was, however, willing to admit that his tiny interest ran away with him once and again. He looked at the neat shelves that held more than thirty movies and series: three of each. One for watching, one as a reserve and yet another, just in case something should happen to the first two. The top right shelf held the DVDs he liked best. Sliding a finger over the colourful backs, he pulled down a few and sat down at the low table, spreading the DVD-covers out on the coffee table. There were series and a few films, one of them Fuyu no Semi.
Yoshizumi looked at the covers for a long time, as if the pictures were charming him in some unknown way. He chose a DVD and went to put it into the DVD player. He returned to the sofa and poured himself a cup of tea. As if it was a habit, he took the remote control and started the film, leaving out the first two chapters. He sighed deeply as Asano Nobuyuki appeared on the screen. As usual, Yoshizumi's eyes were drawn to that special person.
For an otaku, Yoshizumi's tastes were remarkably simple.
And I love Yoshizumi-as-otaku in the second fic! I must admit, I do own 2 copies of some movies/anime: a video and the later dvd release in some cases, and with others, I have both the Japanese import and US releases. But I'm not quite crazy or rich enough to buy 3 copies of every movie I own! (I know comic collectors like that, though.) Still, he tickles my little otaku heart. ^_^ And of course I love that tantalizing hint of Yoshizumi/Asano!
