DRABBLES: "Replacements"
7th-Sep-2008 08:05 am
Title: Replacements
Prompt: #6 - jealousy
Characters: Yoshizumi, Asano, Katou
Rating: PG
Summary: Acting is not for the faint of heart. Two 100-word drabbles.

1.

Yoshizumi had arrived early for his lunch with Iwaki. As he waited in the agency's lobby, the actor who had replaced him in Fuyu no semi walked up to him.

After an exchange of greetings, Asano said, "I hear you've been cast as Katou's partner in his next movie."

"Your sources are good," Yoshizumi confirmed.

"The part was not one for which they held auditions." Asano's smile was sour. "Your connections must be very good."

Masking his surprise, Yoshizumi murmured, "We all experience luck we do not deserve." Nailing Asano with a stare, he couldn't resist adding, "Good and bad."

2.

When Yoshizumi stopped by Katou's trailer, he was unsurprised to find his co-star snarling at a televised press conference: the media was obscenely eager to cast Yoshizumi as Iwaki's replacement -- both as an actor and as a man. To a superficial observer, Iwaki appeared remarkably serene for someone who was being asked whether he planned to win Katou back or to transfer his affections elsewhere.

Yoshizumi turned to Katou. "He looks so distressed. He's not really jealous, is he?"

"Of course not," Katou snapped.

Yoshizumi narrowed his eyes. "What are you jealous of?"

"Of what you can see," Katou admitted.

1: Go Yoshizumi!!! *sniggers* That is precisely what he'd have done! *loves on him*

2: Awww! God, I love the interaction between the three of them. I can't wait until you've written something longer with them in it. ♥

1. Heh. Watching Asano get pwned is way too satisfying. ;-)

2. *bats away the plotbunny* Away, thou fiend! Mochimune wants his pound of flesh Miyasaka! (But, hee, I'm glad you liked the drabble!)

Masking his surprise, Yoshizumi murmured, "We all experience luck we do not deserve." Nailing Asano with a stare, he couldn't resist adding, "Good and bad." Perfect. So very characteristic of Yoshizuma.

i actually didn't get the second part... pardon... hmm does it signifies that iwaki and katou broke up and now katou was with yoshizumi??? well it's intriguing though i doubt if i'm gonna like it.... i'm forever iwaki-katou!!! lol pls. don't get me wrong....

No, no, Katou and Yoshizumi were just co-starring together in the same movie; what I was trying to portray is how that had naturally spawned vicious rumors that they had become an item. Katou, Yoshizumi, and Iwaki all know that it isn't true, but it doesn't make it any easier for them to deal with those rumors, even though Katou and Iwaki are both aware of their own insecurities by now, and Yoshizumi is close enough to both of them that he can see their true conflicting emotions.

(And yeah, I'm with you -- K/I is an OTP for me as well ... although my first Haru fic did break them up. Sometimes you just have to go where the plotbunny hops. ;-) In any case, thanks for reading!)

aahh... heheh...thanks for enlightening me...lol... and yeah... i've realize that habit of yours (parting iwaki and katou)... (i've actually read your "As Strong as Life") and i think i also leave a comment there...lol... something like: "if ever iwaki would leave katou like that...i think the most fitting-next-mate-would-be is Onizuka" --- but don't mind that now for i've believe and realized that there's alot of onizuka-kikuichi fans...lol... and i admit myself that they're really "something"... they're both spooky at some level... lol...

Heh. Thanks for reading... and one thing maybe I should clarify about my writing is that none of my stories are linked unless I specifically say so - in other words, each one is in a separate Haru-universe from the others. I do adore Geri's Onozuka/Kikuchi series, but I don't ship them outside of her narrative (and if she really follows through with Yoshizumi/Asano, same will go for there; same with Snapelike's pairing of Onozuka with the Iwaki from When a Man Loves a Man, etc.). One of the biggest reasons I enjoy fanfic is because it allows the exploration of multiple possible combinations rather than just what canon indicates (or suggests) is likely to happen; I know some people want to read only continuations of their OTPs -- and that's fine, as long as they're not slagging those of us whose curiosity about the characters steers us toward a significantly different sandbox.

...lol... yeah ! yeah! i agree... we could continue to experiments and unleash our imagination!!! lol.. and please pardon my habit of jumping into conclusions... your right.. you actually didn't mention directly the katou-yoshi?...lol...

More belated comments...

1. Asano getting smacked down by Yoshizumi--yay! ^_^

2. Really nice insight into both Yoshi and Katou. I have to admit, I was slightly confused by the last line on the first reading, but when I read it over again I went, "Oh, now I get it!" I think it's great--there's a whole lot of meaning in that one simple line.
