Leyu had been spending a lot of time holed up in her room after the news of the Sentinel attack had come out, nearly three weeks ago. It wasn't that she was terrified to leave the comfort of her bedroom and face the outside world (or maybe it was), but she was tired of hearing people talking about it incessantly. Quite frankly, it made her neverous.
This school was full of mutants. What if one (or more) of those things were lurking nearby and one of them lost control? Just the thought of one of those hulking, scrapes of metal coming for one of them scared the Hell out of her (as it should). This was a very serious matter and it had to be dealt with, as soon as humanly possible; therefore they all needed to stop talking and actually do something about it.
Plopping down on her bed now, she slipped the headphones of her iPod over ears and settled back against her pillows and cracked the book open. Shan, the school's librarian, had recommended a few excellent titles for her to get to work on. (She had never encountered a person with so much enthusiasm for books in her entire life.) The one she was getting ready to immerse herself in was about John Quincy Adams.
Leyu liked to think that she had had a very well-rounded education in pretty much every subject taught in school, but her knowledge about the American Presidents was lacking and she wanted to know more. Originally, she'd never had the desire to know more than she needed to know about American History. But now that she was living in America, she thought it was her duty to learn as much about the country she now resided in, and that also included absorbing its history.
Shiro would probably just laugh and shake his head at her "need" to do something like that, but he was lazy and she didn't expect him to understand. If he wanted to go coast through life, only learning the things he needed to know, that was his prerogative.
