Who: Shadowcat, OTA What: Kitty's being a little silly. (haha) When: Monday evening Where: Haven gym Warnings: If you think Kitty's an adult, this might shatter your worldview.
The horrible squeaks of the padding rubbing against the metal bar were covered up by the radio, and while Kitty was largely blocking out the music as she strained against the ab machine, her hands crossed over her chest while she reached her elbows to touch her knees in what was quickly becoming a hellish extended situp, the instant a particular song started playing, she stopped mid-motion and listened. She knew those chords! And after a quick surreptitious glance over her shoulder, she started to sing along.
“We'll be young foreverrrr!” She fell back, feeling the cool pleather-y material against the back of her neck, her ponytail dangling freely beyond the back rest, keeping her hands clutching her shoulders. “You make me feel like I'm livin' a teenage dream,” And as she sang along, her exercise became much more fluid and easy; getting her mind off of how much ab exercises sucked was enough to give her an infinite amount of energy. As she kept going, though, she missed a few words in her breaths and skipped a middle verse, but she kept the beat of the music as her rhythm.
Just before the chorus again, the twenty-one year old extended her hands back and touched the ground, phased her feet through the bar, and did a clumsy backwards cartwheel to end up standing. “You make me feel like I'm livin' a teenage dream!” She shot her hands in the air like a gymnast and started dancing in the way people do when no one's watching – repeat the same motions, awkwardly catch their eye in a mirror and start singing to it, bring out old-school disco moves, but most importantly, with wild abandon. “So take a chance and don't ever look back,” she sang, thrusting a fist into the air with the beat, “Imma get your heart racing in my skin-tight jeans; be your teenage dream tonight” - lyrics complete with rubbing her legs to the words. This was a moment worthy of an 80's movie, but really, who cared?
