Josh was feeling antsy. It was his first day off, a complete day off where he wasn't running errands for the infirmary or the clinic in... weeks. The first order of business he'd accomplished very well: sleep in. He'd gone to bed at a ridiculously early time the night before (nine pm) and woken up at a ridiculously late time the next morning (eleven thirty am). His shower had been long and a bit lonely.
The ache he'd felt for Lotte was still there, still a yawning cavern in his heart but it was slowly closing up. There were days when he'd actually not think of her until he went to bed. Bed was always the worst time but slowly and surely he was healing. He still missed Lotte but he was coming to grips with the fact that life was going on and would continue to go on. He had to either keep up with the game or be left far far behind. A month ago he would've been very content to stay far behind but not now. Lotte would kick his ass three ways from Sunday if he just rolled over and took it.
After his shower, Josh sat on his bed in his towel, damp and at a complete loss as to what to do with his day. He should study his physiology books, but he didn't want to. This was his day off and studying was working. That was one thing he knew he did NOT want to do. So... what else was there? Read a book for fun? Yes, that he wanted to do but later. Watch a movie? Maybe, but not alone not even if it was downstairs in the rec room. Hang out with friends? But what friends? Sabbah was at work but honestly she wasn't a social friend. He'd do anything for the gentle woman but outside of their jobs, they had little in common. Eventually their talk of the weather would move on to the clinic and the infirmary and Josh wanted to think of anything but. Brian was long gone probably balls deep in hot Nordic women. And men, now that he thought about their last night together and the revelation that his friend had had the hots for him.
Wanda.
Of course. She was the other woman who'd strayed rarely from his thoughts. Would she be too busy to hang out? Maybe lunch. He hadn't eaten breakfast and his eating habits of late were sporadic leaving him constantly hungry (and too thin). Lunch it would be. Hopefully. Picking up his cell phone, Josh found Wanda's number in his directory and pressed dial.
