Homework? Nick looked over at her dubiously but didn’t protest. He was used to taking orders even if they were ones he didn’t like. “I’ll get a pad of paper when I go back to the mansion and keep it with me,” he said instead. “And yeah, my schedule’s pretty open except for the days I’m volunteering at the clinic which, after you’ve staffed it, are maybe a couple of hours here and there.” He wasn’t really needed there anymore after she’d gotten more volunteers and nurses.
He finished off his pita sandwich and started another one. “Would you like to go out on a date some time?” The words were out of his mouth before he could stop them and instantly he kicked himself. “Sorry, habit. So other than working pretty much two jobs, what else are you doing? Seen any good movies?” he asked quickly to cover up his gaffe. He had promised before that he wouldn’t do that again and here he was... doing it again. Maybe he should just avoid Sabbah altogether after she ran her tests. As much as he did not like that idea, it was for the best if he was going to keep pestering her like this with unwanted attention.
