Who: Hermes and Valkyri
What: Catching up
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Haven's infirmary
It had been the second night in a row Nick hadn't gotten a good night's sleep. He'd woken Saturday feeling discomforted, uneasy and like he'd only had a couple hour's sleep. Then last night he'd had that were more like flashbacks to that time he tried so very hard not to think about. He'd woken super early that morning unable (and unwilling) to fall back asleep.
The last thing that Nick wanted was more nightmares so he was working out hard, pushing himself in the gym and then in the Danger Room. The two hour long work out had merely been a warm up for his work out in the Danger Room. Lasers shot out of walls singeing the air around Nick as he darted from place to place. Pillars rose in front of him that he either had to fly around, over or punch his way through. There was also a roaring wind that would shift suddenly impeding his flight or helping him go faster.
It was exhilarating and while there were many close calls, Nick was able to keep his head. He stopped when his mind began to wander because of all the aches and pains in his body. At that point he'd been in the room for three hours and with the two hour work out before that, he'd maxed his body output and then some.
"Computer, off," he finally called out landing at the door lightly. His body trembled, his muscles twitched, he was soaking in sweat and out of breath but the nightmares were still there gnawing at the back of his mind. He only hoped that he would be able to collapse into a dreamless sleep tonight. Picking up a towel, he wiped his face and arms and drank room temperature water from a water bottle as he walked out of the Danger Room. His attention was on a nice cool shower, food then something else to keep his mind occupied. Maybe another work out since that seemed to be best at keeping his thoughts at bay.
He didn't even see Sabbah until he was right on top of her. "Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to almost walk over you," Nick said with a small half grin. She looked good. Really good. And still utterly and completely unobtainable.
