Working her Way home... (Blindfold too!)
Ruth was off the jet practically as soon as she realized Pete wasn't going to fight about her going with them out into the wilderness. With her senses out as far as she could reach them, she moved through the woods as if she could see. Better in fact considering she didn't have to worry about the fact that there was no light. Jamie-dupe stayed with her as best he could, even hissing at her lightly when she got too far ahead. Wisdom and the others she could feel easily as she moved forward, yet she pushed them aside, refusing to concentrate on them while she reached out for Storm trying to find the woman.
Her calm demeanor was hard to touch, but Ruth found her, her thoughts pulled together very well for someone who was on the brink of possible death.
Storm. It's Ruth. Blindfold, one of Wisdom's team. She wasn't sure how well the woman would remember her, they weren't all that well acquainted truthfully. We're here for you. Just stay put.
Storm was surprised by the sudden touch, yet she did as she was told, coming to a stop with a crouch in the underbrush.
The pair, Ruth and Jamie-dupe, found her just a few minutes later as Wisdom's voice came over the speaker. "Objective achieved. Five sighted." Neither Storm nor Jamie could see the fifth man, but Ruth knew where he was. He was a thousand yards away, taking aim at the three of them. "Jamie, on your six, dahlin'. Point and shoot."
While Jamie was packing rubber bullets, it was obvious from the way the man went down that those rubber bullets had done something more than they were meant to. It was a one in a thousand chance, but that rubber bullet went straight through his glasses and killed him. If it weren't for the fact that a precog was involved, it would have been nothing more than a freak accident.
"Is good ta see ya. Wisdom'll be dancin' in the aisles." Then she switched back to her communicator.
"Met ya back at da Bird. We've got 15 'fore we run da risk of reinforcements. Shall we be ghosts by den?"
They were already on the way back. Once the whole group was together, they could get out of Dodge.
