"Wouldn' make a difference iffin ya weren't." In her case, it made absolutely no difference at all since she couldn't see him regardless of whether or not he was utterly starkers. Ruth was definitely going to need to stop pulling slang words out of Wisdom's head when she was around him. Though she didn't intentionally move to be cryptic, she stepped in and shut the door.
"Queen of Wands and reversed Five of Cups." Whether he had any knowledge of the Tarot previously or had picked up some whilst dealing with her over the past months, she didn't truly cared. It was an action to focus her own thoughts more than anything else. "Queen of Wands be a strong female presence, connected wit' da world of nature." Her hands moved as if she were looking for something to do, but then they stilled. For once, Ruth seemed awfully nervous. "Five of Cups be a pouring out, a relationship lost or destroyed. Dat's right side up. Reversed it brings a relationship restored, a person returned."
Wisdom was more than likely becoming impatient, but since Ruth was doing her best to recall every little detail, she kept it going fairly slow. "Dere was the sound of a waterfall in my ears, a big one, a sense of distance. Calmed when Ah went ta thinkin' of the far side of Niagara in Canada. But da clock's ticking fast."
The clock was always ticking in Ruth's mind, the soft counting of seconds as they fell forward into the future or drifted backward into the past. It was a constant. If it weren't something she'd learned over time to tune out, it would have driven her mad long before now. A fast tick in her ears meant time was running against them. There was a deadline on her knowledge and it would more than likely come soon. The question of course was whether or not they were already running out of time before they even got started.
"She's waitin' on us. Don' know for how long. Trouble ain't far behind."
