Lorna caught the movement out of the corner of her eye. The fangs and the crazy eyes would have probably been enough to spook her badly. There is something about ferals that strikes some pretty visceral self-preservation instincts anyway, the whole predator versus prey scenario embedded in our genes. The result of Kyle's jaunt was a disaster. Lorna screamed, and she reacted purely in self defense.
The bench she was sitting on was literally ripped apart by her powers, the metal parts flying, along with pieces of wood, straight at Kyle's face. Lorna fell and tried to roll away and the burger flew in a completely different direction, forgotten. It all happened very fast. Her panicked reaction caused an indistinct magnetic pulse that made silverware fly out of everyone's hands in a fifteen foot radius, potentially turning Gibs into a mutant pincushion while the mangled bench kept trying to push him away from her.
Literally falling on her ass, Lorna crawled backwards in an unsightly but effective scramble as she eyed the crazy person who'd just tried to attack her for no reason she could discern. "Are you out of your fucking mind??" she shrieked, heart pounding in her chest. She hoped, for the guy's sake, that Alex wasn't around this time, or there would be another vaporized body to account for, she was sure.
