Who: Polaris OT Gibs
What: First meetings, barbecue
When: Friday lunchtime
Where: Haven grounds
The day was perfect for a barbecue. The noontime sun warmed the crisp September air enough that it was very comfortable out. Lorna wore a soft, thin sweater unzipped over her scoop necked blouse. Someone had decided that an impromptu barbecue was in order to celebrate the Registration Act being repealed, and she for one was glad. They could all use some lightening up after all the ugliness of recent days. There was a lot of shady stuff going on in the Haven, and word among the Acolytes was that there was at least one other team based out of the mansion that was not exactly advertised. All she knew that after the news about the attack in New York City, there had been a lot of movement and apparently some new arrivals. Or something. Not that anyone told her anything, really, but people did gossip a lot.
But she wasn't up for any intrigue today. She was in the mood for exactly this, mutants loosely gathered in small groups, pairs, or alone like she was, but at least sharing a meal in the same vicinity. She thanked the red skinned and scaled dude manning the grill at the moment for her burger, then fetched a soda from the nearby beverage table and went to find a spot to sit down and have a relaxed, casual lunch. Lorna balanced her burger on her knee as she settled down on a backless bench and pushed her bright green hair behind one ear. Had she known she was having burgers she would have brought a hair tie. She usually stuffed one in her pocket when she left the room, but hadn't done so today.
She had to resist the urge to call Alex to join her. She didn't want to smother him, much less come across as needy, and she figured he might show up anyway if he walked by the kitchen looking for food. The kitchen door leading outside showed a rather steady stream of traffic with people bringing out more food or simply coming in and out of the house.
