Frederick had been feeling ashamed of his own behavior of late, going off on teammates and strangers like some creepy stalkery scorned teenager when he "found out" Jamie was involved with that Pete Wisdom fellow. Little did he know he was completely wrong, but he was still convinced it was so, even after he heard through the grapevine that the Brit was the sometime lover of the X-men's leader Storm. It wouldn't be the first time a guy stepped out on his girl with another guy, after all. In any case, he was not only feeling that way, but also alienated and unwanted in general. He had gone on exactly one mission with the Acolytes and been benched for his trouble. Not to mention that unjust black eye he got from his own team leader for improvising. He felt he'd made a mistake coming to the Haven.
After hearing Magneto's little speech, however, he found himself agreeing with the man a hundred percent. If Erik Lehnsherr would indeed be back for those mutants sharing his vision and his fury, then Scion would definitely be there with bells on. Getting away from Jamie at this point would probably be a bonus, he figured, although he wasn't so sure if he wouldn't rather try to convince his friend to come along. That was a decision for another time. All he knew was that wherever Magneto was going, he was willing to follow. Anything would beat hanging around here with the rest of the inert losers. Frederick Slade was no loser.
Scion was going to sleep like a baby tonight. Yes sir.
